We have a million things to write, or so it seems. Sales pages, emails, proposals, responses, social media updates, campaigns, books, articles, blog posts....
Maybe not a million, but really, really close. :)
So, how do we get all that done?
Enter the "Keep It Going-Get It Done" Quick Tip Series where each day for four days, I'll give you a Quick Tip and a Quick Action you can implement right away to write all the things that are going to help you create movement and momentum in your business.
"Keep It Going-Get It Done" Quick Tip #1 - Schedule regular time to write.
Some people will say you need to write every day. Not me. As coaches, consultants, writers.... our schedules vary day to day.
But that doesn't mean that you can't schedule regular times to write. Once a week, every weekday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, a big chunk on the weekend....
A few rules about scheduling your writing time:
- Actually schedule it in your calendar. Don't just put it on your to-do list. Attach it to a time.
- Treat that appointment like you would treat an appointment with a client. It's nonnegotiable time. You wouldn't give away the time for Client B when you already have Client A booked for that time, right? Treat your writing the same way.
- Allow margin in your schedule so you can get into the mindset of whatever you're writing. Finish whatever you're working on at least five minutes before your writing appointment (and don't use it to check email just real quick....). Use those five minutes to sit quietly, meditate, get your environment ready.
- Write for the time you've scheduled. Whatever you get done during that time is perfect. In other words, keep to the time, not the scope of the project. (Hint: a future tip later this week!)

Quick Action: Get your calendar out now and schedule your next writing appointment. For even greater accountability, write in the comments below and tell me what that writing time is! |
Really want to boost your writing?
Four hours of writing allows you to make HUGE progress on what you're working on. Because, honestly, you're not going to get as much done with 15 minutes here, 5 minutes there.
Write with us on Friday and be amazed at how much you can get done!
