I've found it very interesting that I'm not drawn to playing 31 Days of Wishes nearly as much as I was to 30 Days of Thanks. I wished one wish, to sell my house. Stacy posted this comment, "I wonder if you also do some wishes for others if the Universe is more likely to grant yours faster?"
That stopped me almost dead-cold.
Since then, I've spent a lot of time thinking about the idea of wishes, and here's what came up for me. (And this is true for me, but I by no means think it's true for all.)
I believe everyone is responsible for his/her life. If there's something I want or desire, then it's up to me to get it.
And this led to that most people wish for really big things, things that you can't really get on your own. For me, this has been reinforced by movies, stories, fairy tales. Jack gets three wishes. The genie grants three wishes. You close your eyes, throw the coin in the fountain, and wish. Because it's these magical creatures/energy granting our wishes (fairy, genie, a wishing well), we usually wish for big things.
Think about some of the things we might wish for. World peace. Now, is that something I, all by myself, can bring about? No. I can certainly do my part, but it's one of those big wishes. Wish for no one to go hungry. Again, I can't do that by myself, but I can do my part.
Finally, that led to this....
What I truly wish for is that everyone has all the help he or she needs to bring about his/her wishes.

Yes, I agree. My first post talked about not really being a wishful kind of person because if I take the time to wish, then I take the time to plan and execute it. What I've found is I have spent more time wishing this month than I ever have and they are very self-centered wishes. I realize it's because I feel out of control, there are things I can't change right now, no matter how much I plan. Perhaps that's what a wish is supposed to be - an idea thrown out in the universe that will hopefully combine with others to create an energy that will change the world. Personally, I need to feel I DOING something to bring about change and wishing just feels... well... too wishy-washy!

I like that - that a wish is an idea thrown out to the universe... to eventually change the world.
May our wishes change the world, Pat!
