We've had a week with Samwise, Thanksgiving is over, and so it's time to try out my new work schedule.
However, it wasn't a normal Monday. We had to take Samwise to the vet; he has kennel cough, and now, along with other puppy duties, we get to administer antibiotics twice a day. I'm happy to do that, though, as his coughing sounds horrible. Even with the kennel cough, he's full of energy and a happy little (13 pounds at 9 1/2 weeks!) puppy.
However, after the vet, I did come back and write for thirty minutes. I set a timer, and the time flew. As is to be expected, I was very productive, even more so than on my regular writing days. I wrote almost as much in thirty minutes as I've written in an hour and a half. Go figure.
After that, I got some work done, and even planned my day for tomorrow on my whiteboard. Tomorrow is first full work Tuesday, although with a high-priority phone call and dentist appointments for the girls, it's not exactly a no-call, no-meeting work day.
I feel like this first day was a success. One thing I do wonder is whether writing every day will get to be a drag. (I almost feel like a fraud admitting that.) Will writing every day, feeling as if I HAVE to write for thirty minutes, get to be a drag? What about when Friday comes, and my entire morning is supposed to be devoted to writing? Will I want to?
