New Work Schedule and the Writing Life: Day 2
Day 2 went well. My original idea was to work for an hour, have my call at 10:00 a.m., and come upstairs to write at 11:00. However, my 10:00 call got rescheduled to noon. I worked through the whole morning, did my call at noon, ate lunch, and did a little more work. I quickly got dressed and took the girls to their dentist appointment.
Now, during all this, I also had to keep track of Samwise, so there were some moments of intense activity, which looked like Dawn running madly around her backyard. Oh, yeah, and there was a puppy, too.
So, the writing part didn't happen at 11:00 like I planned, and I did worry that I might just keep pushing it off and pushing it off. After I came back from the dentist, Alison, my wonderful babysitter, was here to take over for two hours, and I was free. I was also tired (something about puppies keeping me up at night), and a nap was mighty tempting.
I wrote.
Once again, when the thirty-minute timer went off, I wasn't quite ready to quit. I've liked the new schedule so far.
On to tomorrow and Day 3. Now that one is going to be a little harder. I have meetings out of the office from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Then, I have a call at 2:15. After that, I have to take the girls to piano. Unfortunately, Wednesday is not an Alison day, so when we get back from piano, I have mommy duties along with puppy duties. No writing happening tomorrow. That's okay. The schedule can't be inflexible and set in stone. There has to be some room to move. I just want to make sure that I don't allow excuses to pile up.
Unless something drastic happens, there won't be a Day 3 recap. Here's to a productive Day 4!
(In case you haven't kept up, here's Day 1.)

Keep up the good work.
