Now I know that all the marketers, especially Internet marketers, tell us that keywords are key and that you can't be funny or punny (as the case may be) with titles and descriptions.
I saw this posting on Craig's List yesterday, and I was attracted to it by its originality, intelligence, and humor. Now, I get that the person trying to get Haveahart mouse traps doesn't care if Google finds her or not. However, I'm personally more attracted to this kind of writing, whether it's on a blog, website, or general article on the website. It's not all about keywords and mass targeting.
Here's the ad on Craig's List:
Squeak, squeak, squeak. Please help me get back outside where I belong. I somehow got stuck in this house and can’t find my way back outside. I want to LIVE! I want to grow old and raise a family of my own. The lady that owns the house hates me and wants me to DIE. I guess I can’t blame her; after all I am a mouse. But gee wiz guy’s I’m begging all you CL folks to come to my rescue. See, I had a little talk with the homeowner and she agreed that she would buy a Haveahart Trap from one of you wonderful people if she could just find one. Now I know one of you tree hugging animal lovers out there have one of these traps just sitting on a shelf gathering dust. PLEASE email this lady soon or I’m afraid my life could come to an end.
I know you have big hearts. Just look at the way you cried for Mr. Jingles when that mean old Percy squashed him and how you cried again when that wonderful John Coffey brought him back to life. Please don't make me walk that Green Mile.
P.S. Please look close at my pic because I think you can see little mouse tears in my eye.
